What is creative dance?
At Creative Dance Works (CDW), creative dance is a multi-genre art form that builds on ballet and modern dance technique. However, unlike other dance styles, it incorporates literature, imagery, art, and most importantly your child’s creativity.
Why does creative dance work?
Creative dance is a unique medium in which the whole person is nurtured. The physicality of dance blossoms in a positive, non-competitive, group setting. This allows for a strong sense of social success, creating emotional well-being. When a dancer can extract movement vocabulary from the outside world, a mind/body connection is made. Creative dance unites the physical, social, emotional and mental aspects of our being, making our dancing spirit soar. Creative dance works because movement vocabulary becomes the language of the soul; pure expression and connection.
What will dancers learn?
Creative dance introduces the Elements of Dance; Time, Space, and Energy. Dancers explore movement using locomotor steps as well as the qualities of movement.
