Dragon Dancing

Dragon Dancing by Carole Lexa Schaefer started us out on the right foot when "...all of us-in a long dragon line- go stomp, bomp-tromping away..." This is one of my favorite dance books because we get to go explore space as we dance with spirals, slinkys and of course suspending and collapsing dragons. In one class we tied scarves together to create a giant dragon body and then dancers spiraled in to it like the winding of a cinnamon roll. With phrases like "zig-zagging," creep-crouching," and "swirl-whirling," Dragon Dancing lays a perfect playground for creative dance. Happy Chinese New Year!
