Heart Art
February took us on a dancing journey through How the Sun Was Brought Back to the Sky by Mirra Ginsburg. When the sun goes missing everyone is concerned and goes searching to find it! We danced our way to the sun's house where we found it sad and unable to shine. We talked about the emotions of sadness and what helps lift our spirits when we are down. In most cases dancing with friends usually helps!
Dancing with heart scarves we matched locomotor movements to different rhythms. The Night Before Valentine's Day by Natasha Wing brought us creeping, springing, spiraling and stretching dances.
One of our favorite activities was looking at different types of heart art. We brainstormed adjectives to describe how our bodies could use the qualities of movement to express what we saw in the painting.
February was big dance love!
