The Color Catcher

The Color Catcher performance was a celebration of all the wonderful and unique dancers at CDW! It was so fun to see each of the students dance a color and develop movement inspired by that color. We began this process by talking about nouns that were also their assigned color. We then used adjectives and charts to more fully develop the movement vocabulary for that color. We used books and discussed how the 5 senses can inspire movement.

I am incredibly proud that the dancers learned not only the locomotors, but the qualities of movement as well. These dancers can now use these skills along with variations of time, space, and energy as a foundation to start building their own choreography and unique way of moving their body.

This has been a year of incredible learning, exploring, and growth. Thank you dancers for taking chances, working hard, and finding the joy of creative movement! See you in the August!
